Texas’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) was established in 1999 and the state has long since surpassed the renewable energy requirements (largely through wind generation). The RPS does not include a solar-carve out and other Texas energy policies are not favorable to solar incentives. For these reasons, Texas does not have a viable SREC market.
